Amanda Barnhart started out as a relatively unknown CrossFit athlete in 2017 when she surprised everyone with a 25th place finish in the central regionals. The next year she was back with a vengeance as she returned to the same event and won half the events.

An Introduction to Amanda Barnhart
Amanda’s success in CrossFit is no surprise as she’s been a lifelong athlete. She’s competed in swimming, running, volleyball and gymnastics. During college, she swam division 1 at Cleveland State University. Top CrossFit athlete Colleen Fotsch is another person who made the switch from this sport.
She’s also a certified physical therapist and works hard to balance her work and training

CrossFit Games and CrossFit Open Results
Amanda has been competing in CrossFit competitions since 2014 and has been steadily improving year over year. Some of her best results are as follows:
2019 CrossFit Open: 9th
2018 CrossFit Open: 27th (she won the clean + jerk speed ladder event)
2019 CrossFit Games Individual Women: 7th (15th in 2018)
Her 7th place finish in the 2019 CrossFit Games was all the more impressive when you consider that she did it in extreme pain since the Friday of the competition. During the Ruck (event 3), Amanda rolled her ankle and would go on to finish that event in 15th place. The rest of the weekend consisted of her trying to figure out how to manage each event around the needs of her ankle.
Impressive results for the amount of adversity she faced during the competition. We’re excited to see what the future holds for her in terms of results. Does a podium finish await her or being crowned the fittest woman on Earth? We’ll find out for the 2020 CrossFit Games!
