Brooke Wells CrossFit: Stats, Results, Diet, Workout Tips and More!

CrossFit has become a household name we all have heard.  With over 13,000 locations in 120 countries, there are more CrossFit locations than there are Starbucks locations in the United States.  But, if you haven’t attended a CrossFit workout, you might not have heard of the CrossFit Games. Every year since 2007, the CrossFit Games have been held each Summer.   There are regional and national games.

One upcoming superstar of the games is Brook Wells.  At only 19 years old she won the 2015 regionals. She has six top-five wins under her belt.  And all while she is still a student at the University of Missouri.

The Switch from Track

Brooke Wells started out doing track in high school.  She added CrossFit to amp up her endurance and training.   It was meant just to be a supplement to the track training that she was concentrating on.  She was planning on continuing with the track into College and beyond. However, she found that she loved CrossFit and changed to this as her significant athletic activity.

She has gone on to be wildly successful at CrossFit and has never looked back.   She has even gone on to be a trainer at CrossFit in Columbia.

In addition, she also has a twin sister Sydney, who is also a CrossFit athlete.

Brooke Wells 18.4

You may have heard something about Brooke Wells and the 18.4 controversy. All qualifiers must submit a video of 18.4 to headquarters before receiving an invite to regionals. This is done to ensure that all athletes are up to the mark of competing at such a high level.

So what’s the deal with Wells? Her video was filmed from quite a distance and at a poor angle. Despite this, it’s obvious that there are a few no reps in there. Despite this, HQ decided not to adjust her score. This is likely because taking a few seconds off her score for this wouldn’t have affected the overall leaderboard. However, the reasoning behind this decision was never really made public.

This was somewhat surprising, considering that other top CrossFit athletes have had their scores reduced in recent years, including Josh Bridges and Dan Sidell.

CrossFit Tips from Brooke Wells

If you’re looking to improve your performance, you’ll certainly want to take a few of these tips from this top CrossFit athlete.

“NEVER FORGET TO BE YOURSELF”

Despite the fact that Brooke is a very successful CrossFit athlete and spends many hours a week training and studying at university, she makes a point of spending time with family and friends.  She has a positive outlook on life and is always smiling. She recommends making time for your family and friends and time to enjoy life. This can be hard in this highly competitive industry, but she never forgets to take time to be herself.

She is not only a successful athlete but also a full-time student at the University of Missouri.  She is studying business but intends to continue and concentrate on CrossFit later.

ACCEPT THAT SACRIFICE IS A PART OF SUCCESS TO REACH YOUR GOALS

Brooke has quite an intense schedule.  She puts in at least 2-3 CrossFit training sessions each day on top of a full-time University schedule.  She organizes her classes and training sessions so that they work together. But this does mean some form of sacrifice.   She has to avoid drinking and getting an early night as often as she can.

While this might seem unusual for a college student, Brooke has accepted that she needs to sacrifice some of the college dorm antics in order to reach the goals she has set for herself.  But she does make time for her friends and does still go out and have a night off as often as she can.

She likes to compete in all areas of her life and sets her goals in alignment with this.  Her personal goal is to become the fittest woman on earth. She does not feel this is impossible to reach.  But she says she knows that she needs to set goals she can reach but not too comfortable, so there is still a challenge.

When you are as ambitious as Brooke, you have to have a very organized schedule.  This does not leave much free time, but she is willing to sacrifice to achieve her goals.

TURN YOUR WEAKNESSES INTO STRENGTHS

Brooke is open about her weaknesses and often speaks of them in interviews.   She believes that it is essential to know your weakness so that you can improve.  This skill is one that contributes significantly to her success. This allows her to reach her objectives.

It is not easy to admit when we are wrong, but if you can’t be honest with yourself, then it will be harder for you to fix these points.

One area that Brooke had trouble within the 2015 CrossFit games was the pegboard.  And in the 2016 CrossFit Games, she finished 37th in the 7km Trail Run. But instead of dwelling on this she pulled herself up and took first place in the Deadlift Ladder.  She does not let a low score define her. Instead, she looks at these are weak points to be strengthened.

Brooke Wells’ Crossfit Diet

Brooke understands that nutrition is an integral part of the training for all CrossFit competitors.  Your body needs fuel to make it effective. Here are a few tips for improving your performance.

FUEL YOUR BODY

In the weeks leading up to competition, Brooke eats a lot of food.  She uses Paleo Power meals to cater to her. This means her macros are all worked out, and she does not have to worry about these.

Meal prep is vital so that she can spend as much time as possible at the gym.  She eats around 2500 calories each day. She breaks this into six meals that she can eat between workouts.

TAKE YOUR SUPPLEMENTS

She is very strict on taking fish oil in the morning, aminos throughout the day.  She also takes casein protein each night.

WHAT TO EAT DURING COMPETITIONS

Brooke eats a lot of carbs the night before her competitions along with a large amount of fat that helps to slow the digestion of the carbs.  She loads up on food the night before so that she does not have to eat as much on the day. She recommends a huge breakfast too. Her go-to breakfast is eggs, fruit, and oatmeal.

Brooke Wells at the Year 2018 Crossfit Games

Brooke Wells is a very dedicated young athlete.  She has tremendous dedication and ambition to reach her goals.  She is a real inspiration for female athletes. Not only is she dedicated to her fitness routines, but she is also a full-time student.   She is definitely one to watch and will do very well in the future.
